Corporate Social Investment: sustainable community empowerment with SED and Enterprise Development benefits
The Entrust Foundation is keen to take hands with responsible Community- and Business leader in SA and Africa, to empower disadvantaged communities through a sustainable multi-tiered approach:
- SED-component: Starting with Early Childhood Development, correcting critical developmental backlogs by utilising accredited learning-through-play programs (focussing on the award-winning MiniChess program) to ensure effective in-school learning for all participants – enabling academic excellence and holistic achievement going forward.
- Enterprise Development: Establish fully-equipped, in-community black-owned businesses, including ongoing training and empowerment by means of internship-programs and business-mentoring – serving community-needs, including contractual paid-for implementation of educational programs in schools and communities.
The SA schooling-system delivers a 0.4% success-rate of learners with a sufficient mathematics-score to allow tertiary study in engineering, technology, science, auditing, finances, medicine, and others – that represents 4 matriculants out of every 1000 school-starters (SA Education Data 2014). Economists indicate that 75% of well-earning jobs worldwide by 2020 will demand math-proficiency and that up to 90% of people without these skills are likely to be unemployed in the 21st Century (McKinsey Global Institute). It has thus become critically important to empower SA-learners, starting in the foundation-phase (Grade R-3) – enabling a sustainable future for them, and for SA. The Entrust Foundation’s programs have proven longer-term benefits, with excellent University study-results and international accreditation. It is currently successfully being rolled-out in SA and various African countries (Rwanda, CoteD’Ivoire, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar) with keen interest from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, DRC, Tanzania and others, as well as pilot-programs in the USA, Australia and Central-Asia.
BEE- and Tax benefits: The Entrust Foundation offers Tax-exemption and full BEE score-card benefits (in SED and ED categories), with added BEE-benefits in the category of Training-support.
Sponsor-visibility: This program enables broad Sponsor-brand awareness – to be agreed. Branding is desirable on all Program materials, with Program-launches, banners/billboards, as well as Program-events.
Media-coverage: The critical importance of Education in SA, makes this intervention news-worthy, with regular media-coverage in both printed and electronic format. In-community sustainable job-creation and new successful black business-owners also attracts media attention, locally and wider. Sponsor-branding as agreed.
